What caught our eye last week

An agreement, a promise, a case study and some recommendations make up our round-up of some of the most interesting links we encountered over the past week.

An article on Africanbrains.net announced an agreement made in late July among 26 vice-chancellors of African universities to spur the production and usage of distance and e-learning programmes. Also, Maina Waruru’s article on SciDev.net looks at China’s recent promise to expand Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) support in Africa.

As part of an on-going project to study the challenges involved in communicating complex ideas, onthinktanks.org has posted a case study on CIPPEC´s dilemmas in promoting electoral reform in Argentina.

Finally, on the Guardian’s Poverty Matters blog, Lysa John and Stephen Hale posted three things to be done to avoid repeating the errors of the past when it comes to the Millenium Development Goals (MDGs). See Fit for the future? The rocky road to a new set of development goals.
