Articles on gender issues from Journals Online platforms in honour of International Women’s Day

Today is International Women’s Day; to celebrate we thought we would draw attention to some of the recent articles available through our Journals Online platforms highlighting gendered issues from around the world.

The platforms include articles discussing the gender differences in undergraduate medical examination results in Sri Lanka, women and climate change in Nicaragua, gender-based barriers to Tuberculosis vaccination in Nepal and women’s empowerment through micro-finance in Bangladesh.

Statistics from our sector emphasize that there is work to be done around the world in creating equal opportunity for female researchers, academics, scientists and research into gendered issues. UNESCO reports that on 28% of researchers worldwide are female and they remain underrepresented in research and development in every region of the world.
